Biography
Born in 1978 in London, Rosanna Bankes - known to her friends and family as 'Wink' - was educated at Downe House in Berkshire and gained a degree in History of Art and Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University. She then embarked upon an eight month apprenticeship in France with Yannick Guegan, the pioneering trompe l'oeil artist. As a freelance decorative artist Wink usually works in private houses, painting murals and a wide variety of faux marble, wood and stone effects. She also specialises in producing smaller trompe l'oeil items on walls and furniture. The three-dimensional images are created by means of very fine brushwork and meticulous observation of light and shade, and are often mistaken for the real thing.
Wink has undertaken both private commissions and commercial trompe l'oeil work in Britain, France and the Channel Islands, and is as meticulous in her execution as she is in fully satisfying the client's brief.
